“They say cats have nine lives,” Petter wrote. “You used yours well. A few of them were spent fighting cars, others probably went in battles with who knows what kind of other animals. You were fierce, brave, and full of life. You truly lived each of those lives to the fullest.”

“Everything, however, has its end, and so did your time on earth. We will miss you every single day. But we also know that you are finally free from pain. If dogs and cats share the same heaven, we hope you’ll find Hamlet there—give him our love. Rest now, and sleep in peace. We’ll see you again in Nangijala.”
The reference to Nangijala—a mythical afterlife from Astrid Lindgren’s famous story “The Brothers Lionheart”—is a particularly touching gesture, invoking the idea of a reunion one day in a peaceful, pain-free place.
