A late-night police pursuit in Tampa ended in tragedy after a devastating crash outside Bradley’s on 7th, a well-known LGBTQ+ venue located in the heart of Ybor City’s nightlife district. Authorities confirmed that at least four people were killed and eleven others sustained injuries in the incident, which unfolded in the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to the Tampa Police Department, the sequence of events began around 12:45 a.m., when officers observed a vehicle traveling at high speed along Interstate 275. Investigators believe the car may have been linked to earlier street racing activity in the area. As the vehicle exited the interstate and entered the densely populated entertainment district, officers initiated a pursuit.
At one point, law enforcement attempted a PIT maneuver to stop the suspect vehicle. However, the attempt was ultimately aborted due to the significant risks posed by the surrounding environment, which was filled with pedestrians, outdoor seating areas, and late-night crowds. Officers instead continued monitoring the situation as the vehicle proceeded into Ybor City.
Moments later, the driver lost control of the vehicle near 7th Avenue. The car veered directly into the outdoor patio area of Bradley’s on 7th, where patrons were seated and socializing. The impact was catastrophic, scattering debris across the sidewalk and instantly transforming a crowded social space into a scene of chaos and devastation.
Witnesses described scenes of panic and confusion as people attempted to assist the injured while emergency services rushed to the location. Tables were overturned, glass shattered across the pavement, and bystanders scrambled to move others out of harm’s way.
One witness described the moment as sudden and incomprehensible, noting that the area had been calm only seconds before the vehicle struck the patio.
